U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) joined Fox Business host Larry Kudlow on Tuesday to discuss the increasing importance of passing and enacting the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act).
During the episode, Kudlow asked if the bill mandating documentation of U.S. citizenship for federal voter registration would be up for a vote soon in the Senate.
“The House passed it last year. It’s in our hands as we speak, but somebody will try to get their hands on it and try to manipulate things in it,” Tuberville responded. “At the end of the day, you have to be a United States citizen to vote in this country. That is the number one thing. And then, of course, President Trump wants same-day voting. Get rid of these voting machines.”
Tuberville alleged that at least six lawmakers in the federal government have been elected illegitimately because of weak voter ID requirements that could be addressed by enacting the SAVE Act.
“There are half a dozen people, whether it’s in the House or Senate, that are up here as we speak that did not get elected,” noted Tuberville. “It was all bogus because we’ve seen the evidence.”
According to Tuberville, if Republicans fail to pass the legislation, voters will not show up for midterms.
“If we don’t straighten that out, you’re going to see a lot more of it this fall. It’s just going to get worse and worse, with the American people saying, “Listen, we got all y’all up there, and you don’t do anything to straighten it out. We want closed borders, and we want fair elections,” said Tuberville.
He added: “Those two things they’re demanding, and as Republicans we had better listen to them and do that, or we’re going to lose next fall.”
