ICYMI: Tuberville Joins “Kudlow” to Discuss SAVE Act, Report on Disastrous Afghanistan Withdrawal

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Network to discuss the need for the U.S. Senate to quickly pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act which would prohibit foreign nationals from voting in U.S. elections. Senator Tuberville also discussed the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee report condemning the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago.

Excerpts from Senator Tuberville can be found below, and his entire interview can be watched on YouTube or Rumble.

ON AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL DEBACLE:

KUDLOW: “Alright. Joining me now. Welcome back to the show, Alabama Senator, Mr. Tommy Tuberville. Senator Tuberville, sir. Welcome. I have an agenda for you, Senator.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, but I want to begin with this Afghanistan business because this report coming out of the House Foreign Affairs Committee is absolutely brutal in the details and virtually the entire military establishment opposed it. And Joe Biden and Kamala Harris thought they were smarter. Guess what? They weren’t. What do you make of this?

And what do you make of the untruths? You know, moving towards the center with flip-flops and all that. What do you make of this, Senator Tuberville?”

TUBERVILLE: “Well, it’s kinda showing the character of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, as we get into all of this, Larry. All of it’s coming back. I’m on the Armed Services Committee. I went through all these hearings right after the Afghanistan debacle. And not one person would really tell us, ‘Oh yeah, we’re all for this.’ They really weren’t. […] We were all for getting out. But it was a debacle. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden basically instigated this.

Remember, Kamala Harris was the last one in the room she says when they came up with a decision to leave the way they did and got people killed—it actually put our allies in harm’s way. They did not know that we were withdrawing from Afghanistan until we were taking off in planes and running for cover and leaving people behind.

But it was a tragedy. It got our people in trouble over there that actually had worked with us, Larry. The interpreters, people from Afghanistan that really laid it on the line for us to help take out the Taliban. But again, […] right from the very beginning, you could tell Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were not truthful.” […]

KUDLOW: “I mean, if you’re Secretary of Defense and Chairman Joint Chiefs and head of CENTCOM, Central Command, if they’re all against it, if the head of your national intelligence is against it, it’s inconceivable to me that they would buck that. I mean, Joe Biden felt he knew better. And Kamala, as you say, she was the last person in the room, and she was bragging about it. And then he went and had to lie. But the thing is he had to lie [that it] was a great success.

Then he had to lie a second time saying no Americans were killed. I mean, here’s the thing. I know mistakes are made in politics and government at the high table. I understand that.

What I don’t know, Senator, is why it seems so many untruths from this particular administration. […] Listen, I’ve worked for two presidents. I’ve been around a couple more. I’ve seen many others. You’ve seen them too.

I know that presidents can exaggerate or embellish. But all of these just flat out ‘untruths,’ I’ll call them. I think have caught up to both Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris. I don’t think American voters want to see that. And in the information age where information is easier to come to and the truth is easy to get. I don’t think American voters like this one darn bit. I think they see it as a sign of weakness, not strength.

What do you think?”

TUBERVILLE: “I think you’re gonna see this tomorrow night in the debate, Larry. That’s why people want Kamala Harris to come out and say what she believes in. And, you know, I hope one of the questions is about Afghanistan. Why did you [Kamala Harris] wanna do it the way that you did it?’ A lot of things are out there that are very, very untruthful.

And American people don’t like people to lie to them. And they’ve been lied to from day one about taxes, about the military, about Ukraine, about the things going on over there, about what’s happening in our country. ‘Oh we can run this country without fossil fuels. We can go […] all electric.’ We can’t do it. They have absolutely started believing these lies, and I hope this catches up with Kamala Harris tomorrow night. The American people need to know the truth.”

KUDLOW: “I mean, I’m thinking Mr. Trump’s got to put it to her. I hope he does it in a polite way, but I believe he will. You know, if you think back, Senator, John Kerry tried to flip-flop. Actually, if you go back even further 35 years, former governor of Massachusetts, Michael Dukakis, tried to flip flop. John Kerry tried to flip flop.

These advisers think Americans are stupid. We’re gonna be liberals or worse during our political careers. But for six or eight weeks while running for president, we’re gonna somehow be centrist. It’s never worked. It’s never worked in the past. I can’t think of any reason why it’s gonna work now.”

TUBERVILLE: “No. No. And you’re gonna find out tomorrow, you know, about exactly what Bernie Sanders said on one of the TV shows during the weekend—[he] said, ‘Kamala Harris is just trying to get elected.’

She’s gonna say, basically, whatever she needs to say to get the American people on her side, but the truth will come out. And again, I think President Trump understands that he needs for her to talk. He needs for her to tell exactly what she believes in because she’s lied to us about the border. Larry, this border has almost brought this country down—the way they’ve handled it. And she’s been in charge of it, and she won’t take any credit for it. She said we’re gonna get this bipartisan [border] bill passed that the Senate voted down. That bipartisan bill was a disaster for the American people and the border.

We do not need a bill that’s gonna allow 5,000 people a day to come in. So […] they’re trying to […] put lipstick on this pig. She does not know what she’s doing. She doesn’t know how to do it. She’s not qualified to do it.

And we dang sure don’t need somebody that’s been in her for four years that’s got us in all this trouble. I’m a football coach. I’ve been here three and a half years. I’m telling you; they have destroyed the federal government in Washington, D. C. in three and a half years.”

KUDLOW: “You know, CNN, Kamala was trying to say she’s for the wall, Trump’s wall. She’s got his wall in her ads, alright, or worse. And, actually, my old colleague, Erin Burnett, we used to work at CNBC together. Erin is at CNN. She did a story that said at least 50 times, Kamala came out against the wall. Now she’s trying to tell us she’s for the wall.

Really? I mean, I don’t think Mr. Trump is gonna let that one slide.

What do you think, Senator?”

TUBERVILLE: “No. No. You’re exactly right. And if she’s for the wall, Larry, you know, there’s hundreds of millions of dollars worth of materials laying down on the path of the wall. Hundreds of millions of dollars.

They’re selling it every day. You can go online right now and buy it for 10 to 20 cents on the dollar. So, if she’s gonna build that wall, she gonna have to turn around and rebuy the things that she and Joe Biden are selling online. The American people deserve to know that they’re losing millions of dollars a day because of their incompetence of not building wall now instead of saying, ‘Oh, we’re gonna build it later.’ That’s not ever gonna happen under a Kamala Harris administration.”

ON IMPORTANCE OF PASSING THE SAVE ACT:

KUDLOW: “I’ve got one more for you, Senator. Actually, maybe two more, but one more—the SAVE Act. Citizenship. You gotta be a citizen to vote. I know you and some others are pushing that in the Senate. I think this might come out of the debates also tomorrow night. Any hope of any progress on that SAVE Act?”

TUBERVILLE: “Well, Mike Lee and I have been pushing this for months. Basically, just says common sense. By the way, you can buy a Webster Dictionary anywhere. But in D.C., it doesn’t have common sense in it. There’s no common sense up here […].

Don’t you think you should be an American citizen to vote for people that are gonna represent you? Sure, you should. They do not want that to happen.

I was in Bogotá, Columbia last week and the people down there are even going, ‘What are y’all doing in your elections? Are they fair? Are they not fair?’ I go to somewhere in Dallas, Texas, or Phoenix. […] Everybody’s first question there is not [about the] economy and not [about the] border. It’s ‘Are we gonna have fair elections?’

People are dying to know that this is gonna be fair this year, and I’m like President Trump. And what he said the other day, if we find out that people broke the law, whether it’s Secretaries of States or people at the voting booths or people voted more than once, they are gonna pay the price and go to jail if he gets elected. And that’s the only way we’re gonna be able to stop this, Larry.”
