WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined 17 Senate colleagues in introducing a resolution designating September 2025 as “National Literacy Month.” As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee on Education and the American Family, Sen. Tuberville is committed to doing whatever he can to boost child literacy and improve educational outcomes.
“Our youth are the future of this country,” said Sen. Tuberville. “We spend more money on education than any other country and yet have too many students who are slipping through the cracks. That is unacceptable, and we must do better. As Alabama’s representative on the Senate HELP Committee, I’m 100% committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure Alabama’s kids are set up for success both in the classroom and in life.”
Sen. Tuberville was joined by Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Katie Britt (R-AL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), John Cornyn (R-TX), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Jon Husted (R-OH), Jim Justice (R-WV), Angus King (I-ME), James Lankford (R-OK), Jack Reed (D-RI), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) in cosponsoring the resolution.
