Tuberville In the News: 1819 News: Tuberville to Nike over funding study involving transgender athletes: ‘Stay out of the politics’

On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) called on apparel company Nike to stay out of politics for reportedly funding a study on transgender youth athletes.

With President Donald Trump now in office, Tuberville warned Nike to be “careful” about pushing for allowing men to play in women’s sports.

“Nike, they’re all over the place,” Tuberville said on Outkick’s “Don’t @Me with Dan Dakich.” “You would think that they would be for sports and for education. … They better be careful what they’re doing. At the end of the day, there’s a new sheriff in town in Washington, D.C.”

“And they’ve done a lot of great things for athletes and … schools… but stay out of the politics. You get involved in politics, it could put a dark shadow over everything else that you do or are going to do in the future. It’s unfortunate that people get involved in something that they shouldn’t.”

Host Dan Dakich asked why there is a push from the left to expose children to trans ideologies or even allow them to be trans.

“It all started in Hollywood,” he said. “You have all these actors and actresses dressing their boys up in girls’ clothes and trying to make them transgender. Listen, how about doing what’s right? How about raising your kid and teaching them values and morals?”

“The whole thing since I’ve been here, the Democratic Party is a true attack on gender. They want one gender. They don’t want any family. They want to be able to control what you do, how you do it. It’s just unfortunate. This transgender thing is just another one of the letters in the LGBTQ nonsense that forces it on other people.”
