WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) issued a statement following the Trump administration’s reversal of the illegal, taxpayer-funded abortion policy imposed under the Biden administration at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Senator Tuberville has been sounding the alarm on this policy ever since the Biden administration announced its intention to begin providing abortion services for veterans and their dependents through the taxpayer-funded VA health care system in September 2022. In April 2023, Senator Tuberville forced a bipartisan, bicameral vote on the resolution, which was defeated 48-51. Today, the Trump administration is taking action to finally reverse this illegal and immoral policy.
“The Biden administration was more concerned with shoving their abortion-on-demand agenda down the throats of American taxpayers than they were about providing timely and quality care for our veterans,” said Senator Tuberville. “Our veterans have put their lives on the line for this country and deserve a VA that is 100% focused on getting them the best care possible. Finally, we have a President and a VA Secretary who are laser focused on taking care of our veterans, not promoting woke politics. This reversal is a huge win for veterans, American taxpayers, and the unborn.”
