U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is pushing to protect Americans from the dangers of Sharia Law and militant Islamists with two pieces of legislation introduced in the upper chamber on Wednesday.
Following an impassioned speech on the Senate floor last week, stressing the need to fight radical Islam, Alabama’s senior U.S. Senator has now filed the No Sharia Act, which would prohibit the application of Sharia Law in the United States, where it would violate constitutional rights and the Preserving a Sharia Free America Act which prevents all foreign nationals supporting Sharia Law from entering the U.S.
“Sharia Law is fundamentally anti-American and has no place in our country,” said Tuberville. “If you want to peacefully practice your religion, you have every right to do so under the Constitution. But if you want to come to the United States and advocate for the practice of Sharia Law over U.S. law, you should not be here. We do not want people who chant ‘death to America’ residing in our communities and endangering our families. We must protect American values, not apologize for them.”
“I hope my colleagues can come alongside me in this effort to preserve our Constitutional and God-given rights,” he added.
U.S. Reps. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) and Keith Self (R-Texas) have introduced the No Sharia Act, while U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) has introduced the Preserving a Sharia Free America Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.
