Tuberville In the News: 1819 News: ‘If they’re shot at, shoot back’: Tuberville calls for ICE agents to defend themselves

Thursday on Fox Business Network’s “The Evening Edit,” U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) urged Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to protect themselves as they conduct raids after one agent was allegedly dragged down the street by a Honduran national fleeing in a van.

Tuberville said it was important that the agents were able to protect themselves in these “scary” situations while conducting raids, adding they should “shoot back” if they are shot at.

“Our justice system … has gone to hell in a handbasket. These sanctuary cities, which are illegal, by the way, especially up here in the blue states, they take care of the criminals. They don’t take care of the law enforcement officers. They don’t back them.”

“Hey, our ICE agents need to protect themselves, do whatever it takes. If they’re shot at, shoot back. Do whatever you can do to protect yourself.”

Host Elizabeth MacDonald asked if the agents were allowed to shoot back.

“Well, as President Trump says, they have the authority to protect themselves no matter what happens because they’re out there every day amongst people, number one, that don’t love this country, that don’t have a clue about our laws, that are not wanting to do the right thing. And our people are going into these houses and these businesses, and it’s absolutely amazing how scary it is.”

“And I’ve talked to the Homeland Security people, and every day it’s a different scenario of what they walk into, and they don’t know what to expect. And so, we have to let them protect themselves, because these people are criminals. They’re not here because they were invited. They’re here because they came illegally.
