A Robertsdale family is celebrating a miracle after their child survived what they were told was an impossible fight.
Branson Blevins is officially in remission from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
The 11-year-old has been fighting for his life from Rome, Italy, after his mother took him there for treatment to safe his life.
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) assisted the family in obtaining passports when Branson was unable to physically visit the post office due to his hospitalization.
Tuberville wrote a letter to the family congratulating them on Branson’s remission.
“Branson is a brave young man, and there’s no doubt that he gets his courage from his parents,” the letter stated. “I admire the strength and faith that all of you have displayed over the last several months. Your testimony is an inspiration.”
“We are continuing to pray for your family during this time of healing,” he said. “If we can do anything to assist your family, please let us know.”
The child’s mother, Nichole Blevins, said that hearing the cancer was gone was breathtaking.
“From the depths of despair to the highest mountaintop of hope, we’ve witnessed God move mountains,” she said. “We’ve watched our son endure the unthinkable. And through it all…the hospital stays, the setbacks, the separation, the relentless treatments, the fight across continents…Branson never gave up. And neither did we.”
Blevins thanked supporters and Tuberville for prayers and support.
“We are so honored and humbled to receive this letter from Senator Tommy Tuberville, recognizing Branson’s incredible fight and the miracle we’ve witnessed,” Blevins stated.
“To have Branson’s journey acknowledged at this level is not only deeply moving, but also a reminder of the power of prayer, persistence and a parent’s love,” she added. The road to Rome wasn’t easy, it was filled with impossible decisions, sleepless nights and battles no child should ever face… but by God’s mercy, our boy is in remission. A real life miracle.”
“Thank you, Senator Tuberville, for your kind words, your prayers and for sharing in this celebration with our family. We are so grateful,” Blevins concluded.
