In a video message released to the media on Friday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) pulled no punches when discussing the Democrat-led government shutdown, laying the blame for it squarely at the feet of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his fellow liberals.
According to Tuberville, to avoid the shutdown, Democrats issued a ‘wish list’ of demands worth $1.5 trillion, including the provision of free healthcare for illegal immigrants.
“Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats voted once again to keep the government shut down,” said Tuberville.
“They have proven that they care more about illegal aliens than the American taxpayers. Some Democrats are trying to sweep their support for illegals under the rug, but the proof is in the pudding. They’ve been trying to find ways to get free health care to illegals for many years. Back in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, every single Democrat raised their hand to say they support giving free health care to illegals.”
Tuberville pointed to the free healthcare being afforded to illegals in California under Gavin Newsom as proof that the majority of Democrats have endorsed free healthcare for illegals at the expense of Americans.
“Woke Gavin Newsom is already giving free health care to illegals in California and charging you, the taxpayer,” he said. “So we shouldn’t be surprised that radical Democrats are willing to shut down the government unless Republicans agree to give $185 billion of your taxpayer dollars to provide free health care for illegals. Ridiculous. The government spending in Washington is out of control.”
Tuberville warned Democrats, if they want to ‘play hardball’ on the issue, the current presidential administration is game.
“Trump was elected to trim the fat off the federal government, and that starts with prioritizing American citizens over illegal aliens. President Trump and OMB Director Russ Vought are going to use this shutdown to drain the swamp. As far as I’m concerned, that’s a great thing and it is long overdue.”
“Make no mistake, the radical Senate Democrats think they’re sticking it to President Trump, but the American people will not be fooled,” the lawmaker concluded.
