Tuberville In the News: 1819 News: ‘We’re counting on you’: Tuberville calls on young conservatives to carry on Charlie Kirk’s legacy in packed TPUSA event

AUBURN — An electric crowd of nearly 6,000 people was treated to a set of speeches, a phone call from President Donald Trump and more on Wednesday inside Auburn University’s Neville Arena.

The This is the Turning Point Tour event at Auburn University was headlined by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), Benny Johnson, and Eric and Lara Trump.

The packed event drew in a number of elected officials, including U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Secretary of State Wes Allen and State Rep. Ernie Yarbrough (R-Trinity). Others in Alabama politics were in attendance, such as Alabama Republican Party chairman John Wahl and candidate for Alabama Secretary of State Caroleene Dobson, Alabama Attorney General candidate Jay Mitchell and U.S. Senate candidate Morgan Murphy.

Tuberville opened the evening up by discussing his appreciation for the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who he had met in 2020. He unveiled that Kirk was “supposed to be here tonight” because the event had been planned over the summer, months before Kirk was assassinated by a “deranged leftist coward.”

“Charlie was waking up millions of young people every time he talked because now with the internet and social media, everything got out there that he talked about, even all of his debates,” Alabama’s senior U.S. Senator told the crowd. “He was waking them up because he was telling the truth, and you know what? He lost his life for it. He lost his life because he was telling the truth.”

Like Kirk, Tuberville emphasized the importance of faith, marriage and family. He urged the students in the crowd to carry on Kirk’s work and have his back.

“Our friend Charlie died with the word ‘Freedom’ written right here on his chest,” Tuberville noted.

“Charlie worked with a lot of people to move the ball down the field to get this going. Look at all of these people in here. This is going to continue. We need to follow Charlie’s example by pursuing the knowledge in this country, make yourself smarter, do things on your own, personal development, engage in thorough debate, debate those people that disagree with you peacefully. We’re in a fight, folks. We’re in a fight for our lives. I’m going to fight, and I want you to fight. We’re counting on you, all of you. educate yourself, work hard, get married, and have kids. If you do that, your generation will save this world and save this country. We’re counting on you.”

He closed with a hearty, “War Eagle!”

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson then delivered a speech in which he went through President Trump’s rise in politics, detailing how he defeated both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris to become president. He discussed faith and told the students in the crowd that they were the future and on the right side of history.

Eric and Lara Trump then took the stage and noted a year had passed since President Trump got re-elected. Eric Trump then called his father, who professed his love for Auburn University and the state of Alabama, noting that he had won by 45 points.
