WATCH: Senator Tuberville, on Kudlow, Discusses Combatting Chinese Aggression:

TUBERVILLE: “…We’re hoping that this legislation tells [China], ‘Hey, zero tolerance towards anything that you do,’ and we’re going to try to stop the aggression of the Chinese. They’re getting more powerful every day. Their military’s getting stronger… President Trump, obviously, was against it. We don’t the know what President Biden’s for, but maybe in the future, whoever the next president is, we just want legislation that says we are not going to let TSP money be invested in the Chinese.”

WATCH: Senator Tuberville, on Fox and Friends Weekend, Discusses His Recently Introduced Legislation:

TUBERVILLE: “Their [ICE] apprehensions are down almost 70% this year. With the influx of migrants coming in, that’s ridiculous. So, this basically says, we want to empower the local and state law enforcement – which now they don’t have jurisdiction – but give them authority to work with ICE to do what they need to do, to apprehend and extend the 180 day [detention] period. Right now, if we catch somebody for murder, rape, child molestation, something like that, we cannot hold them after 180 days, and that’s ridiculous. After 180 days we have to turn them back into free people, which is going to be back into the United States – not outside this country.”

TUBERVILLE: “China’s businesses – they don’t play by the rules, they commit corporate espionage, they violate U.S. sanctions, and they don’t comply with basic audit and regulatory standards. We do not want to empower the military of China. They’re our adversary, they’re our enemy. They’re growing every day. It is ridiculous that we would put any pension fund money into China. We need to make sure that we send a clear message of zero tolerance towards Chinese aggression and if we don’t do that, then we’re going to be way behind the game when it comes to keeping up with their economy and their military.”

BACKGROUND:

The Prohibiting TSP Investment in China Act prohibits the retirement funds of military and federal civilians from being invested in China-back businesses. The Empowering Law Enforcement Act gives local and state law enforcement the inherent authority to enforce immigration laws where the Biden Administration has limited the power of federal law enforcement.

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
