U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) on Monday joined Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow,” where he detailed his opposition to Democrats’ so-called “Build Back Better” legislation.
The “Build Back Better Act” last week passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 220-213 and is poised to be taken up by the upper chamber, where the fate of the bill remains unclear due to controversial provisions included within the legislation.
Alabama’s junior senator indicated that the $1.75 trillion climate and social spending bill would serve to benefit wealthier Americans rather than lower earners.
“If you look at this bill, Larry, people [who] are making from $50,000 to $100,000 – it’s going to only help 4% of those families, 4%,” advised Tuberville. “But people [who] are making $500,000 to a million – it’s going to help 67% of those families. So, where was this ‘we’re not taxing anybody under $400,000?’ That was a lie at the beginning. It was going to be paid for? It’s not going to be paid for.”
