In response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) trip to Taiwan, China has conducted military drills in the seas and airspace around the island.
When asked about this situation Monday, President Joe Biden said he was “concerned” about China’s response but didn’t think “they’re going to do anything more.”
Last week on Fox Business Channel’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said the United States needed to “wake up” to the threat of China.
“The Democrats and Joe Biden, the Biden administration, need to wake up about the belligerence of China,” Tuberville said. “I mean, it’s all out there. It’s in our country, it’s all over the world. They’re not going to slow down. They’re going to keep trying to control everything.”
He warned of the communist country’s growing strength while U.S. leaders were focused on the wrong priorities with its military.
“They’re all around Taiwan shooting missiles in international waters,” he continued, “and we’re over here worrying about filling our quotas up in the military because we’re teaching transgenderism, we’re teaching different pronouns, CRT, we’re trying to be woke. Our military is the strength of this country, and we’re looking the other way. And so, we better start doing something.”
The Alabama senator lamented that Biden continued to show weakness in the face of our nation’s enemies.
“President Biden is always making a weak decision,” he said, “and it started with Afghanistan. We all know that. What a debacle that was — maybe the worst in my lifetime of treating our military and our country in a way that we may not ever get over.”
He also blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) over playing politics with new military funding.
“Chuck Schumer’s got the NDAA, the military budget that we just finished in the Armed Services Committee, which I’m on is setting on his desk,” he explained, “but they always hold it to get something more out of it. That’s how the Democrats work around here. They want to get something for doing something and giving something back to the American people.”
Tuberville said the White House and Congress needed to stand together to face the increasing threat.
“We have to be united as one,” he advised, “and if we don’t unite as one over a group that is well funded, China, they’re doing everything they possibly can to outrun us in terms of nuclear weapons, ships, armaments, in space, it’s a race, it is a race right now, and I will tell you we’re behind. We’ve got to catch up and we’ve got to get everybody on the same page. That’s the key to winning this whole thing.”
