TROY— U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville’s (R-AL) team made a stop at Troy University to host a U.S. Service Academy information session in conjunction with the offices of U.S. Senator Katie Britt and Congressman Barry Moore.
During the session, students and parents heard about each office’s application process from congressional staff, met with service academy representatives, and heard from recent service academy graduates. Speakers included Senior Vice Chancellor for Troy University and USAF Brigadier General Richard Boutwell (Ret.); Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Bowen of Marion Military Institute; USMA Major Andrea Ballard (Ret.); Major Kazumi Smith; USNA Class of 2023 Graduate Second Lieutenant Christopher Smith; and USAFA Class of 2023 Graduate Second Lieutenant Tristin Slone.
The final information session will be on Tuesday, August 29 at 6 p.m. at Southern Union Community College in Opelika. The deadline to apply for an academy nomination through Senator Tuberville’s office is Monday, October 16, 2023.
Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
