Tuberville Announces Agriculture Subcommittee Assignments

Subcommittee jurisdictions mirror needs of rural Alabama

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) today released the following statement on his appointment to three subcommittees on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry: Commodities, Risk Management, and Trade; Conservation, Climate, Forestry, and Natural Resources; and Rural Development and Energy:

“These three subcommittees align with the needs of Alabama’s agriculture industry and will help me be an advocate for our state’s major commodities, including peanuts and cotton; critical industries, including forestry; and ensure our rural communities are equipped with the broadband infrastructure that is essential for their continued development and success,” said Senator Tuberville.

“I am pleased that Senator Tuberville will be serving on the these three important subcommittees, which are crucial in charting the direction of our nation’s agriculture policy. Alabama will benefit from having his input on the creation of policies that help our farmers, foresters and rural communities,” Ranking Member Boozman said.

Commodities, Risk Management, and Trade:

The Subcommittee on Commodities, Risk Management, and Tradeoversees matters regarding production agriculture, including commodity programs, crop insurance, commodity exchanges, agriculture trade, international food assistance, and credit.

Conservation, Climate, Forestry, and Natural Resources:

The Subcommittee on Conservation, Climate, Forestry, and Natural Resources oversees programs regarding conservation and protection of natural resources, regulation of pesticides and agriculture biotechnology, and forestry.

Rural Development and Energy:

The Subcommittee on Rural Development and Energyoversees the many programs in USDA’s Rural Development mission area, including facilities, utilities, loans, and renewable energy.

Earlier this year, Senator Tuberville announced his committee assignments for the 117thCongress, including the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.


Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
