Tuberville Leads Veterans’ Mental Health Hearing in Montevallo

“Help is on the way. Money is not going to solve this problem. People are going to solve this problem.”

MONTEVALLO – Today, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) led his first Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee field hearing at the American Village in Montevallo, Alabama. During the hearing, titled Separating Fact from Fiction: Exploring Alternative Therapies for Veterans’ Mental Health, Sen. Tuberville spoke with medical experts and veterans about what steps we can take to address the veterans’ mental health crisis. Sen. Tuberville also toured the National Veterans Shrine and Register of Honor at the American Village during his visit.

“We had a tremendous opportunity today to enlighten a lot of people about our VA and our veterans, about the new therapies and possible new therapies in the future that we can use to save a lot of young men and women that have served this country bravely but have come back and, unfortunately, had a lot of problems through PTSD and TBI,” Tuberville said following the hearing.

Witnesses included Army Veteran Lt. Adam Marr of Slocomb and Dr. Jim Wright of Vestavia. The entire hearing can be watched here. Photos from the event can be found at this link.

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP and Aging Committees.
