Tuberville: Newly-Confirmed CBP Commissioner Will Be ‘Yes Man’ For Open Border Agenda

WASHINGTON– U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) issued this statement following the Senate confirmation of Chris Magnus for Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP):

“The Biden administration has brought nothing but failure and weakness to our country’s immigration and border enforcement systems,” said Senator Tuberville. “Since President Biden’s inauguration, officers and agents of Customs and Border Protection have apprehended nearly 2 million illegal immigrants – more than any other year in recent history – and deadly narcotics continue to pour across our border in record amounts. The Biden administration claims their policies are ‘just’ and ‘fair’ but how is allowing cartels to get rich off of trafficking people and drugs into our country either of those things?

“Commissioner Magnus has previously denied that there is a crisis at the southern border, which raises serious concerns about his credibility and fidelity to the rule of law. I urge Commissioner Magnus to ensure the guidance he provides to his officers and agents is in the best interest of American workers and communities. I will closely monitor actions taken by this new Commissioner and will hold him to account should he willingly further President Biden’s open border policies.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
