Tuberville: President Biden Signs Bill To Expand Veteran Vaccine Accessibility into Law

WASHINGTON —U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) today released the following statement after President Biden signed the Strengthening and Amplifying Vaccination Efforts to Locally Immunize all Veterans and Every Spouse (SAVE LIVES) Act into law. Senator Tuberville was an original co-sponsor of the SAVE LIVES Act.

“Alabama is home to more than 400,000 veterans, and I am proud to support a bill that increases accessibility to the vaccine for our service members and their spouses. Our best defense against this virus is making sure all Americans get the vaccine, and this is another step in the right direction. It is refreshing when Washington can come together and get something done, and I can’t think of a better cause than protecting our veterans against COVID.”

The SAVES LIVES Act would provide no-cost COVID vaccination to all veterans, veteran spouses, caregivers, and Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs recipients at VA facilities and would also instruct the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to adjust vaccine allocation based on this increased accessibility and demand.

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
